This lamb is for you and for me...
Revelation 13:8-And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
The Word of God, the Eternal Son of God, Jesus Christ is the savior of mankind and yet he is also a rock of offense to those that are perishing. He came preaching that his kingdom was not of this world and yet it was already present among those that would be born again. His offer of salvation is to all and yet, remains exclusive to those that keep the faith to the end.
The events of his life, teachings, and crucifixion are second to none and hold more evidence than any other historical figure in history. His resurrection draws the line between those of the household of faith and those that reject God.
Yet, in his infinite knowledge and wisdom far before he ever created mankind, God knew that the ingredients of “in our image,” and “from the dust of the ground,” could prove to be a disaster of epic proportions. An atheist may argue,
“See, your God can’t be all good and the evidence actually demonstrates that he is quite evil! If he actually knew that mankind would not be able to follow his laws perfectly and would fall to sin, then be destined to hell, that would make him evil and cruel.”
The fact remains that God the son knew that mankind would fall from his glory and righteousness and the great cost he would have to pay to atone for, redeem, and sanctify mankind. It would cost him laying aside his glory, becoming a man, and though he was righteous, being treated like a heinous criminal to be scourged and murdered on a cross!
The greatest of suffering had to be the cause for why he cried out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” The Holy Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, in all eternity past had never been spiritually separated before. Yet for a moment, when Jesus became sin on the cross, the Father separated himself from His beloved Son!
And so the Son of God cried out to his Father in sorrow! Jesus felt the spiritual torment and agony of being separated from the Father so that all that would embrace him as Lord and Savior, would never have to taste separation from the Father as he did!
Jesus truly is the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world! Oh what a Savior! Praise and glory be to his wonderful name! Amen!
